  • Can visual studio 2010 open projects created in vs 2012 and vice versa?

  • Yes, if you have VS 2010 SP1 installed and if the projects don't target .NET 4.5 which is not supported by 2010.

  • Open VS 2010 in VS 2012 will be completely fine .. but vice versa, frankly I already gave up doing that...

    Why? I have a 150 projects solution containing various types of C#/.NET 3.5 projects (winforms, wpf, web sites) and it loads fine in both VS versions.

  • The point here is, if you project target .NET 4.5 as Mike already saids, it won't work on 2010 for obviously reasons.
