Windows 8 RSS Reader Deployment issue

    Question

  • Hi All,

I had downloaded the source code for windows 8 RSS Reader :  from http://win8rssreader.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets

    I am using win 8 PRO , 64bit OS, x-64 based processor.

I open the downloaded solution in visual studio 2012.

On deploying I get the following error:

    Error    1    Error : DEP0800 : The required framework "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0\ExtensionSDKs\Microsoft.VCLibs\11.0\.\AppX\Debug\ARM\Microsoft.VCLibs.ARM.Debug.11.appx" failed to install.
Windows cannot install package Microsoft.VCLibs.110.Debug because the package requires architecture ARM, but this computer has architecture x64.

    How to solve this ?

A simple Helloworld App is running fine for me.

  • Sorry Lalit -- wrong reply to this thread...the code is not relevant to your issue.  In looking at the error, it looks like your project currently is targeting ARM and your machine developing on is x64.  Change to either x64 or x86 in your build configuration to run the app on your machine.

  • Hi,

Could you please elaborate why such an issue is occurring.

And where should the above code be placed.
