Outlook add-in access to IRM protected messages RRS feed

  • I've read a few related Q&As that Outlook add-ins (or apps) are not activated on messages that are Information Rights Management protected. It makes sense that they are not, by default, but is there something on the roadmap that might allow add-in activation on IRM-protected content? Maybe something like a certification process to ensure the add-in doesn't compromise IRM? We have a situation where we need to use IRM on messages, but want to be able to show related information about the sender in the add-in panel. Thanks!

  • Hi Valdon,

    As you have known and below link statement, Outlook does not activate add-ins if the message is protected by Information Rights Management (IRM), in S/MIME format or encrypted in other ways for protection. A digitally signed message is an example since digital signing relies on one of these mechanisms.
