Why WWF asks a GreenHorn RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Workflow application defined in Oracle Content Server. I need to convert from Oracle.

I have multiple sites in my corporation. People from each site can report an event. The event will be accepted or rejected by a set of approvers for each site. Once an event is approved the event is published to a global list.
Some sites have a multi step approval workflow with first level and second level approvers.

Each site would have its own workflow with people/approvers/read-onlys attached to each step.

At this point I see no point in using Windows Workflow. I am planning to roll my own workflow.

Any good advice for a greenhorn?

  • Windows Workflow, SharePoint or a pure custom app with .NET and SQL Server.  All viable approaches with different tradeoffs.

You shouldn't roll your own general-purpose workflow engine.  But you might just write a custom app that implements the specific business processes.
