  • Hi Ekta,

Thank you for posting this question on MSDN forum.

I would suggest please check below docs page,

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/biztalk/core/how-to-configure-the-backup-biztalk-server-job

Just highlighting the section where you have to focus,

To use an Azure blob storage account, you need a general purpose storage account, a container within your blob storage account, a shared access signature (SAS), and a SQL credential using the SAS. Once created, have your blob service endpoint URL ready, which is something like https://yourstorageaccount.blob.core.windows.net/containername.

    Thanks,
    Kamlesh Kumar

  • First, don't over think this.

There is no Backup to Azure option or feature.  But, all you really need to do is modify the existing job or create another job that uploads the backup files to Blob Storage.

Edit:  Yes, buried in FP2 is the option to use Blob Storage.  But see below and test with anticipated capacity.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your guidance. When I implement what is mentioned above I get below error when try to backup database

Cannot open backup device. Operating system error 50(The request is not supported.)."

  • Are you running on premise or Azure VM's?

I don't recommend this on premise since upload speed is very often a constraint.  Copying backup files post-backup is very common and completely reliable process.

  • Well, then I wouldn't bother with backup to Blob Storage unless you're just fiddling around.

Production BizTalk running in Azure VM's would be my primary, and pretty much exclusive use case for this feature.

  • I assume currently your backup files are saving on local drives, then I would suggest use script to copy it on Blob on daily basis or weekly basis.

    Thanks,

Sorry, don't understand.  You just use as share, which has been the mostly required configuration since the beginning.
