Opera Issues for Manual Testing in MTM 2012? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I am running manual tests on a web app in Microsoft Test Manager, and have reached the point at which we are heavily into cross-browser testing. Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari all play nice with MTM. But Opera has now locked up the test box three times, doing the same test scripts that passed other browsers.

Please note, this is NOT Coded UI or automated testing. This is manual testing with the operator performing steps and then capturing results in MTM.

Is this a known incompatibility, or is there a config change that we can make?

  • Hello Rick,

I did some search about Opera support for manual test in MTM and don’t find some useful information.

If you get issues when you work with Opera browser, since Opera is a third party product, I suggest that you can consult if Opera is supported completely for manual test in MTM on Opera forums: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ for better response.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

As per my knowledge, still we don't have support for opera browser.

Currently which version of Visual Studio are you using.

Even in the coded UI automation also we are having support only for IE, Fire Fox,  Chrome.

    Please find the link below

But you may think that the context is not related to coded UI, but the same will be applicable to MTM automation play back script.

    Thanks

    Santosh

  • It isn't during playback: It is during the execution of the test. Thanks for the link.

  • Hello,

    Glad to receive your reply.

If you get some issues when you run a manual test case with Opera browser in MTM, I suggest that you try the same actions on another machine with MTM to check the result. If the error will not occur, maybe the issue is related to your test environment. If the same issue occurs, I doubt that the issue may be related to the Opera browser such as the browser settings and compatibility. As I suggested above, you can consult on Opera forums: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ for better response.
