I have a website (say abc.aspx) which I have hosted in web server. I call attachment upload application (upload.aspx) which is hosted in other web server from this application (abc.aspx). I want to get the response from the attachment application whether the user has completed uploading the attachment to the abc.aspx. Is there a way by which we can achieve this?  (Note that there may be delay when users uploading the attachment). <o:p></o:p>

You can achieve this by implementing web service on the attachment upload application side. Inside web service, write webmethod that accomplish the task of uploading the attachment and that web method return the appropriate (return true or false) response value based on attachment process (success or failed). Also check this link would help you, if it matches your requirement: Create a simple file transfer Web service with .NET | TechRepublic || Pass file as argument in web service

    hope it helps./.

    Sample design:

    • abc.aspx contains an iframe referring to upload.aspx
    • upload.aspx uses an upload component (ex: default ajax upload component) with an "onuploadcomplete" event. When the upload is complete, the handler redirects to "abc.aspx?upload=complete"
    • abc.aspx contains in Page_Load code to deal with the argument.
    • If you want to track things : generate a GUID called "abc" in abc.aspx and use in the iframe "upload.aspx?id=abc". When your upload is complete, call "abc.aspx?uploadid=abc" and the cycle is complete.
