Visual Studio 15 Preview, Silverlight Projects will not load

Question

Hey all,
Pretty self-explanatory; Silverlight projects aren't loading in 15 preview. Is this an installation issue or a planned obsolescence issue?
Thanks!

Thank you for your response but this is not at all what I was asking about.
I'm trying to say that "Visual Studio 15 Preview", the new version that was released two days ago that is very badly named since it actually aligns with Visual Studio 2016, does not load Silverlight projects.
Now, that said, I may need to re-run the Silverlight SDK post install. If I have success with that, I'll let everyone know.
Thanks!

You shouldn't be surprised by this. Preview versions of software are often incomplete regarding the range of frameworks. They are meant to showcase the lastest changes to the software and IDE, and the focus of this preview appears to be C++, Javascript, Tools for Apache Cordova, and Azure. Silverlight is considered legacy, and there may be some lag before the support is added.Friday, April 1, 2016 6:08 PM

Hi adamgrahamcgi,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Visual studio still supports silverlight.
You can check a sample from article below:
http://brianlagunas.com/feature-spotlight-visual-studio-2015-preview-xaml-peek-edit/
You could download silverlight sdk 5 from Microsoft official site:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=28359
If the problem still persists after trying the above steps, please use a good VS iso to repair you VS 2015

Repaired the Silverlight 5 SDK and there is no change in 15 Preview. Still shows that Silverlight projects are Incompatible.

Yeah, not so much surprised, just wanted to see if anyone else saw the same issue and to gauge where MS is at. I believe the first previews of VS2013/2015 didn't have SL5 support either but given the status of SL5 now, I was trying to glean any possible implications for the future.
Thanks!

Hi my friend,
Actually, SilverLight won't support till 2021. as Brian said, VS 2015 Preview edition is not RTM edition, it need to improve and make the function as complete as possible.
You could wait the new RTM VS releases.

Hi Adam,
Visual Studio '15' will not support the creation or opening of Silverlight projects. You can continue to use Visual Studio 2015 to develop and update your Silverlight 5 applications.
Sincerely,
Daniel
