Can't Add Reference to System.Web RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm running Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and am having trouble adding a reference to my Class Library Project.  Anytime I try to add a reference to the the System.Web.dll, it fails, saying the Reference Couldn't be found.  I've event copied the System.Web.dll file to my bin directory of my project and tried creating the reference directly to it.  It still fails.

If I creat a new Class Library Project I can add the reference without a problem.

    Any thoughts?

  • Do you still have this issue? I'm having the same issue and haven't find a way to reference System.Web.

  • I found the "problem". Since the release of .NET 3.5 SP1 and VS SP1 there is a new "Client-only Framework subset" that includes the part of the framework that a typical client application would use. If you want to make a reference to System.Web you have to uncheck this option from the project configuration. This has an impact though.
