SQL Server Alert System: 'Severity 016' occurred

    Question

  • DESCRIPTION:    The background checkpoint thread has encountered an unrecoverable error. The checkpoint process is terminating so that the thread can clean up its resources. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.

These error messages have been coming in fairly frequent over the past couple of months. The source is a SQL 2012 server on Windows Server 2012. This server is a physical server that has our SharePoint database. The system has been running for almost 4 yrs and get's monthly OS and SQL updates. As the messages indicates "No user action is required." However, should we be doing something? Haven't found much online so far.

    Thanks

  • What about checkdb results?

Are there any other errors next to this in error log?

  • Hi NICFetze,

Would you please tell us what version of SQL Server are you using? Do you install the latest sp?

    Best regards,

    Dedmon Dai
