Blend localization

    Question

  • Will Blend support x:Uid notation for localization?
It's recomended way of localizing WinRT apps, and Blend is primary for designing UI for this type of apps. And big part of UI are texts, so it should support it out of the box.

  • Yes, I agree it should be here, but unfortunately there is not, please feedback to the uservoice.

I think a better feedback place should be here: https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio, this is the place for Visual Studio related while previous one is for Windows Runtime API.

  • Hi lion92pl,

We definitely have feedback site for you: https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/110705-dev-platform.

But meanwhile I would like to know what is your scenario, you mean in design time, Blend does not display the correct string? Or you simply means Blend should support language switch in the design time. Please wrote your story here and we will look into it for you :)

  • Hi,Link provided by you is not working.

It would be good, if in Blend I could set x:Uid in Properties.
It would be even better, if with Uid set, Blend will display Text, Header, etc. from default language or from special localization for design time.

  • Sorry, a dot should not exist in the link. This one is the correct one -> https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/110705-dev-platform

Also I can see there is no such place to fill in x:uid on Visual Studio property panel.

  • Hi,
In Visual Studio designer uses Blends designer, that's why there is no Uid in Properties. For me it should be there, as setting Uid is the way we should localize our apps.
