Installation of SQL Server 2000 on Windows Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI

We are currently using SQL Server 2000/Windows Server 2003 to host our internal management DBs but intend to migrate them to Windows Server 2008 in the near future. We would continue to host our reports on RS2000/Windows Server 2003.

We have gathered from most blogs (msdn and otherwise) that SQL Server 2000 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 and a lot of features would be missing - but haven't yet found an authoritative list of what problems we would face during and after installation if we were to go ahead with the same - any help along these lines would be highly appreciated!

  • No, SQL Server 2000 does not work on Windows 2008. You need either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008.
