Hello All, I am planning to buy CLR via C# Book. I also want to read Applied .NET Framework. Both are by Jeffery Ritcher. If I buy CLR via C#, is it having all contents of Applied .NET framework? or I have to buy both books?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hemant,

I purchased the CLR via C# book a few months ago. One of the best books about the framework out there, the reviews at Amazon are awesome, and after reading it I got a very good understanding of the framework as well I can write code cleaner and optimized.

It's a must buy for anybody using the framework as well for anybody interviwing at Microsoft [;-)]

    Hi Albert,

Thanks for your reply. But I want to ask you which book is preferable -> Applied .NET Framework Or CLR Via C#.

Sorry I was just typing away about the worders of CLR Via C#! I did not read Applied .NET Framework, I browse a few chapters and I did not find it very useful for me. So, guess where my vote goes to!

    All of them.

Start with Applied .NET Framework... it's is the Old Testament, the background.
Then read CLR via C#...  It's the New Testament.

Finally, read Customizing the Microsoft® .NET Framework Common Language Runtime

    Hi Hemant,

The Applied .NET Framework came out for the C# 1.X framework. Although the book is excellent (5/5) stars I recommend that you try out CLR via C#. CLR via C# covers all the previous topics and plus some new ones. I am sure you will enjoy reading the book.
