In callout driver debugging "The context is partially valid. Only x86 user-mode context is available." RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I'm debugging my callout driver (compiled and running as x64), the debugger stops at a "first chance exception" with the error "The context is partially valid. Only x86 user-mode context is available", followed by "WOW64 breakpoint - code 4000001f (first chance)". Any idea what's the meaning and source of this?

  • This looks to be a debugger issue, and not WFP specific.  Please see if the following fix addresses your issue.

  • Do you have any user mode processes piping to the kd?  ntsd -d for example?

  • No (or at least, not knowingly).

  • What OS are you running the debugger on?  what is the vertarget?  Are you using WinDbg or Kd?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Dusty,

Sorry, I was (and am) busy with other issues so this problem was left waiting.

The debugger is WinDbg and runs on Windows XP and the target is Win7 SP1.
