Including WinRT Namespaces in VS11

    Question

  • I'm having trouble using runtime namespaces in VS11. In the TailoredAppDirect2DPrint sample I am unable to use the Windows::Storage::Search namespace and in the C++ Metro DirectX template project I am unable to use theWindows::Graphics::Printing namespace. Where is the setting in the VS11 project that filters available namespaces.

  • You should find this is not an issue in the Consumer Preview and using the CP version of the samples.

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

You need to include these namespaces into your project as a reference, so that you can use them in your project.

Right click your project->Properties->Common Properties->Add New Reference

Select the Windows in left pane, Select  the namespace in the middle pane, and then click add.

    Best regards,
    Jesse
