[MS-FSCC] Undocumented FileDispositionInformation error codes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    1. It seems that the error code list returned by [MS-FSCC] 2.4.11 - FileDispositionInformation is incomplete,

When monitoring SMB2 traffic, I came to the conclusion that Windows 7 SP1 expects STATUS_DIRECTORY_NOT_EMPTY to be returned from the server when the directory is not empty (when sending FileDispositionInformation), otherwise files are erroneously deleted. (e.g. When merging two directories after a rename has failed, Windows will send FileDispositionInformation opportunistically, failing to return STATUS_DIRECTORY_NOT_EMPTY, will cause erroneous results)

    2. STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED should also be included in this error list.

I believe it's important to include these error codes.

    Thanks,

    Tal Aloni

  • Hello Tal, I already see STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED from the existing documentation published on 7/14/2016. Let me know if I misunderstood something.
