Create Calculated member that group/combine dimension members RRS feed

    Hi Techies,

    I have an urgent requirement. I am working on SSAS 2012, I wanted to create a calculated member under Product dimension hierarchy.

    I have a category attribute in production dimension and its sample members are ,

    • Soup
    • Sauce
    • Dessert
    • Feeding ...etc.

    I now want to create an extra member called "Grocery" which should be the combination of Soup & Sauce and I wanted it to be displayed as one of the members under category attribute in hierarchy.

    If I place any measure (sales or %Sales ) against this new member, it should get me the expected value, i.e. regardless of measure types (%, sum, ..)

    How to achieve the above scenario?I don't want named set since it can be used only on filters.

    Please guide me

    Hi Lateesh ,

    You can create a member and aggregate to of the dimension's members :

    create set currentcube.[FoodCombo]
    as {[Dim Name].[Dim_Hir].&[Soup],[Dim Name].[Dim_Hir].&[Sauce]};

    CREATE MEMBER CURRENTCUBE.[Dim Name].[Dim_Hir].[Grocery]
    AS AGGREGATE(FoodCombo), VISIBLE = 1;
