I HAVE DELETED FULL BACKUP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

Once in an hour i take Transactional Log Backup,

Once in a day i take Differential Backup .

Once in a week (Saturday) i take Full backup,

Because of some reasons i have deleted the last full backup. So my question is can i take the fullbackup again if not what would be the best option to solve this issue.

    Regards,

    Ravan.

Assuming you are not in a need to restore your backup

Yes, you can take full backup at any time. However, if you need to restore you can only use any Diff log backup taken after the last full backup (plus any T-LOg if you need to restore point in time)

  • Hi RAvan,

are you in production environment or Test !!!

You can take full backup of your DB any time ,if your database is online .

In future if you want to delete your full backup file ,Just take it as a COPY only backup ,which will not break your backup sequence.(Applicable for SQL 2005 and later)

    :)
