    Hello,

I am developping several aspx projects and debug with VS attaching to w3wp.exe. Suddently break points would be red but not hit ? Instead of the two usual w3wp.exe processes showing up in the attach to process window, a new third one appeared "webdev-webserver40-exe". I killed it with process explorer, and now the break points work.

    I would like to now:

    1. How webdev-webserver40-exe got started

    2. Why does it prevent my breakpoint from working

    3. Why do I have to kill it

    Thanks

    Hi,

    Welcome to asp.net forum.

    1. How webdev-webserver40-exe got started

    3. Why do I have to kill it

For applications built by using Visual Studio 2005 or later versions, the ASP.NET code can reside on the file system and run under the test server WebDev.WebServer.exe. In that case, you must attach to WebDev.WebServer.exe instead of the ASP.NET process. This scenario applies only to local debugging.

Older ASP applications run inside the IIS process inetinfo.exe when they are running in-process.

    2. Why does it prevent my breakpoint from working

Here are some suggestions for this issue that breakpoint is not working, see: http://forums.asp.net/t/1521226.aspx. please check whether it helps you.

    Regards,

    Angie
