Mobile map component RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently developed an iPhone app that plots out customer locations within a radius of your current location. I am now being asked to research how feasible this is on Windows mobile devices (as another product of ours uses Windows Mobile). I need a map onto which I can plot GPS coordinates and scroll and interact with. I'm not finding anything and can see that google don't offer a solution for other devices.

  • The only thing of which I know is Microsoft Virtual Earth (Bing Maps).  I've used it to place pushpins on a map, but have never tried to plot a path on it.

It takes all the running you can do to stay in one place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must try to run at least twice as fast as that.

    ToBeDecided,

Did you find any solution for this? I also need to develop the same application.

Please post the solution if you have solved the problem.

  • The answer does indeed seem to be bing maps. I've not actually been asked to persue the project any further, so it's taken a back seat right now.

I copied this link into the case I was researching, and I'm pretty sure at the time it said Bing Maps. Now it shows MapPoint.

I don't know if any of this helps. If I'm returned to the project, I'll definitely update with more information.

  • Hi,
    ToBeDecided,

    Thanks for reply.

My priority is Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Bing Maps in that order, since product is for multiple platforms.

So I will first try to implement Google maps and if unsuccessful, go for Yahoo and Bing.

Please post if you find any useful information regarding the topic..

    Thanks again,

    Regards,
    Himanshu
