Oracle connection is a Windows Store App RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to creating Windows Store Apps. I am using Visual Studio 2012 on a Windows 8 Pro box. I have the Oracle Client installed. I am trying to create a Windows Store App that connects to my Oracle database and displays data. I have a strong ASP.NET/C# background but I am new to XAML and Windows Store Apps. Can someone give me an example on how to do this? For example, where would I keep the connection string (in ASP.NET I put it in my web.config file.) I use DataTables and Readers in ASP.NET, what do I use in XAML/C#?

As a side not I did try use the OracleDataReader and OracleConnection but I get an error at runtime that I need to reference the System.Data namespace. I can't find the reference anywhere.

    Thanks.

Answers

  • System.Data is not available for windows store apps. mostly apps connect through webservices to a database (but beaware that store apps cant connect on localhost when outside the development envoriment).

if need a local database have a look at sqllite
