Enhanced Write Filter Management Tool RRS feed

  • I am in use Windows Embedded Standard 7.

    when booting I get an error "Enhanced Write Filter Management Tool" with content of"WMI reported an error getting an instance of class EwfVolumeConfiguration, The system cannot find the path specified

    I want to know the reason for the error and how to fix it.

  • I think there was a fix for this bug. Have you ran Windows Update or downloaded updates to the distribution share from WEDU?

  • I have seen this most likely after cloning the disk without running sysprep in before. I'm not sure why, but probably it's because the disk id or partition layout changed (even if just slightly). You may fix this by executing following command (assuming you have that tool in your image):

    ewfcfg.exe /install-configuration

  • I think you reimaged it or something, eg, you screwed up and went back to a previous wim.

    find the disk id:

    diskpart

    sel disk 0

    det disk

    DISKPART> det disk

    TOSHIBA DT01ACA050
    Disk ID: 3dcdbf68
    Type   : SATA
    Status : Online

    Remember that DISK ID.

    Reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Ewf\Parameters\Protected\Volume0 /v DiskSignature /t REG_DWORD /d 0x3dcdbf68 /f

    And reboot.
