Problem with authentication (SQL Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a similar problem like in the this post (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlsecurity/thread/0716b5c9-6e5d-4350-b16a-f72ae948a168) but it's much more strange.

After installing an Sql Server 2008 R2 (incl. Management Studio) on a Win 7 Pro I have the following behavior:

    1. Starting SSMS and connecting to ".\SQLExpress" with windows authentication: everything is fine
    2. Starting SSMS and connecting to "\SQLExpress" with windows authentication (it's the same computer): I get "Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication."

    • SQL Server Browser is running,
    • remote connections are configured,
    • "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode" is checked and
    • I even disabled temporarily the Firewall .. but with no success.

    What can I do now?

    Thank you for any advice
