Unable to configure User profile sync in SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

when I create new synchronization connection at Add new synchronization connection page I got the below error,

"There was no endpoint listening at http://serverName:5725/ResourceManagementService/MEX that could accept the message.
This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details."

I have followed this link to configure the User Profile Sync,

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12545.sharepoint-2013-setting-up-user-profile-synchronization-12.aspx

What I done wrong. Please help me to solve this problem.

  • I think FIM service is missing in your case, or port 5725 isn't allowed through firewall. Is there any UPS-related on ULS Viewer (http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/ULSViewer).

Open Services console (Run > type services.msc). There are two FIM services you should be seeing: FIM service and FIM Synchronization service. Make sure these are started but don't force it. Open Central Administration and check two UPS services: User Profile service and User Profile Synchronization service. If these UPS services are already started, the FIM services are started too.

    Hope this helps.

  • Just so other can be helped out.  I tried the 389 and 5725 ports in Windows Firewall, inbound and outbound and they didn't "help" until I started the Forefront Identity Manager Service, it was not started!  Thank you!

Had the same issue and this worked for me as well.   I had to manually start the FIM service though.

  • Hi All,

I have deployed FIM 2010 on three server separating FIM Portal, FIM Service and FIM synchronization service.

I do not see service  'User Profile Synchronization service' service on any of the server.

Till now I am able to synch with AD, Exchange and SQL.

Is this service 'User Profile Synchronization service' required?

    Thanks,

    Mann

  • I have two web front ends for my SharePoint farm, should these services be started on both of them? I am seeing the error described above, but I'm not sure if I should be running them on both web servers.

    Thanks,

    BJ
