Make Custom IaaS VM Image Available Across Storage Accounts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Within the same Azure subscription lets say I have a VM Image stored in "Storage Account A" and want to deploy an VM using that image as a template in "Storage Account B". I was hoping to accomplish this using PowerShell.

I have attempted to use Add-AzureVMImage but it appears I cannot import the same VHD into the second storage account.

Add-AzureVMImage : HTTP Status Code: ConflictError - HTTP Error Message: The VHDhttp://
    xxxmystoragexxx.blob.core.windows.net/container1/xxxmyvhdxxx.vhd is already registered
with imagerepository as the resource with ID xxxx-IMAGE-xx.

I'm essentially looking to build a large cloud service automatically every morning from a gold image and have the entire deployment deleted every night including the VHDs, deployed storage account, cloudservice, etc. This way when my gold image updates the next day the cloud service gets updated with the new image.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
