Explicit DataContext wrong in Blend RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a very simple Xaml page where I have set the DataContext of the Xaml page to this expression:

     DataContext="{Binding Path=Dashboard.TestUserDevice, Source={StaticResource serviceLocator}}"

    The serviceLocator is defined in my Application resources and the Dashboard.TestUserDevice returns a UserDevice class.. so I am assuming that my DataContext is of type UserDevice. When I look at the Xaml in design mode I do see all of the values from the UserDevice being populated correctly using regular databinding. However, if I want to change the databinding for a property and go to the "Create Data Binding" dialog the Explicit Data Context is of type Dashboard (Which is the first part of the binding path above).

    To me this is not correct...my explicit data context should be of type UserDevice. Anyone know if this is an issue or this is the way it is suppose to be?

    Thanks,

    Peter
