how does decomposition tree work in sp2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have seen several high level usage demo of decomposition tree.  is there a detail developer type of video on it?  also, are the requirement on it is the same for sp2010+performancepoint and sp2013 + performance point?

  • Hello,

Decomposition tree is a feature added PerformancePoint 2010 onwards. I don't think you can change the behaviour through Dashboard designer or make decomposition tree as a top level report. What exactly are you looking from within a developer's perspective?

The requirement for both 2010 and 2013 are same, do let me know what you need here

  • Thanks for the reply.  I've got buried under projects.

I like to know if performancepoint 2013 read tabular data cube, rather than MDX cube.  Is there examples, vid, on using tabular cube?

  • Yes PerformancePoint 2013 can read Tabular SSAS the same as Multidimensional, I just tried it now with AdventureWorks 2012. The decomposition tree works fine. You might want to read up on Multidimensional vs tabular, its an interesting read that might steer you away from tabular
