SATA disk drive size RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a prototype SSD. It reports one size on Windows and a different size on Linux.

Can you tell me what SATA command and property is used to determine a SSD maximum LBA ?

    Thank You

  • Have you tried looking at the SATA spec?

  • Yes, I have looked at the SATA spec. The drive size can be determined multiple ways. Right now Windows is using one way and Ubuntu Linux is using another.

I guess it's time to setup the SATA analyzer and see for my self.
