MS SQL Server 14 recovery RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello couple days ago my pc with Ms SQL Server 14 broke, probably due to latest updates, well I installed on new hardrive new copy of windows and copied server and data from: "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL14.MSSQLSERVER" to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL14.MSSQLSERVER" now since sql server requires services to run I installed also:

    Using powershell:

    New-Service -Name "SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER2)" -BinaryPathName "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL14.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe -sMSSQLSERVER"

New-Service -Name "SQL Server CEIP service (MSSQLSERVER2)" -BinaryPathName "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL14.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\sqlceip.exe -Service"

Launching both services only SQL Server CEIP service (MSSQLSERVER2) launches without problem but SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER2) throws error

Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER2) on Local Computer Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

    Event viewer shows this:

Faulting application name: sqlservr.exe, version: 2017.140.2027.2, time stamp: 0x5d04c374
