OData in Azure Data Factory V2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • How does one go about CREATING an OData Linked Service in ADV V2 via the Azure Portal?

    Yes, you can create on and NOT specify anything in the Advanced section and that goes OK. But if you check the JSON code all you see is this:

    {
        "name": "OData4",
        "properties": {
            "description": "foobar",
            "type": "OData",
            "typeProperties": {}
        }

    }

    According to this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/azure/data-factory/connector-odata

    You need something like this:

    {
        "name": "ODataLinkedService",
        "properties": {
            "type": "OData",
            "typeProperties": {
                "url": "<endpoint of on-premises OData source>",
                "authenticationType": "Windows",
                "userName": "<domain>\\<user>",
                "password": {
                    "type": "SecureString",
                    "value": "<password>"
                }
            },
            "connectVia": {
                "referenceName": "<name of Integration Runtime>",
                "type": "IntegrationRuntimeReference"
            }
        }
    }

    OK, so what is in the second that is missing from the first? It starts at the Type Properties. So back to editing the JSON Advanced in the code block and this is the result:

    {
        "name": "OData4",
        "properties": {
            "description": "foobar",
            "type": "OData",
            "typeProperties": {}
        },
        "url": "https://"

    }

    QUESTION: How do I get my URL to show up in the Type Properties section?

    Seems no matter what I do it doesn't format the JSON correctly and there is no UI for you to put in values in a dialog box

    This is a BUG

  • Hi Todd,

    Please follow this document to create a linked service with your URL in the type properties section.

    Please try it out and let me know if this solves your problem or we can continue the dialogue.
