Using group policy to manage USB devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2, that computer  is also a domain controller.

I want to allow certain users(they have local login priviledge) to get read-only access of removable storage devices on that computer.

After configuring and applying group policy settings(client configuration), I logged in with one of the affected account, and 'gpresult' command says that group policy settings are now active. However, I can still freely modify contents of flash disks.

If I modify computer configurations in group policy, I can successfully block all writing attempts, yet cannot grant certain users read and write access.

    What could be the problem?

    Are there any workarounds?

    Thank you!
