MSDN Library incomplete on WCF Tracing RRS feed

  • Question

  • The MSDN articles on tracing are apparently wrong and incomplete.

    After I've been using the WCF Service Configuration Editor it generated an application configuration file that differs significantly from what the articles say.

    These articles are completely missing information about the

        <system.serviceModel>
            <diagnostics>
                <messageLogging logEntireMessage="true" logKnownPii="true" logMalformedMessages="true" logMessagesAtServiceLevel="true" logMessagesAtTransportLevel="true" />
                <endToEndTracing propagateActivity="true" activityTracing="true" messageFlowTracing="true" />
            </diagnostics>
        </system.serviceModel>

    branch.

    Moreover, this MSDN article gives wrong information about the "logKnownPii" attribute which is not supposed to be applied to the <source> element (see above for an example about where it is supposed to be added to).
