.NET 3.5 SP1 won't install due to something with the related .Net 2.0 Install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm running Windows Vista SP1 and get an error sequence similar to that in Bill Henning's post concerning .Net 3.0.

    My dd_dotnetfx35install log has entries:

  • Vista sp1 has already included .NET Framework 2.0 sp1 (.NET Framework 2.0 is one of the Windows Vista components), but the .NET 3.5 sp1 setup seems to fail on the attempt installing .NET 2.0 sp1 on the machine.
Still I cannot see the exact cause, can you please follow What to do when you go to post a setup and deployment issue on the MSDN forums?

    Meanwhile, please
    1. make sure that you have enabled .NET Framework feature on the Vista (I assume that you're using RTM version), Control Panel >Programs and Features>"Turning Windows features on or off in Programs and Features" when install the .NET 3.5 sp1.
    2. make sure that run the setup.exe as "run as Administrator" on Vista.
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
