Known issue: XAML UI Debugging Tools for XAML – Live Visual Tree not available for UWP projects with Windows 10 Insider Preview Build RRS feed

  • Question

  • If you're using Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 RTM, Update 1, Update 2 or Visual Studio "15" Preview with Windows 10 Insider build 14267 or later, you may notice that UI Debugging tools for XAML do not work on projects that targets the Universal Windows Platform even if "Enable UI Debugging Tools for XAML" is checked under your Tools-> Options -> Debugger -> General settings. The Live Visual Tree will display "UI Debugging is either disabled, not supported by the current application or the application execution is paused".

  • Note: One Workaround is to install the Windows 10 Anniversary SDK Preview Build by following the steps in the link below

Beware that installing a pre-release SDK has implications on the ability to submit applications to the Windows Store. Publishing may be restricted.

A permanent fix is in the work for future Windows 10 Insider Preview Build which wouldn't require developers to install a Windows 10 Anniversary SDK Preview.
