UNIQUE SHAREPOINT 2013 OR SHAREPOINT ONLINE UNIQUE DOCUMENT SET ID (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH DOCUMENT ID) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have searched forums, but have not seen anyone solve this question:  we're in the process of developing document centers using SharePoint Online.  We create deliverables (work product often consisting of more than one document).  SharePoint 2013 uses folders for Document Sets.  We do not want any folders.  Instead the 'document set' would have a unique 'document set id'.  The document set is completely independent from the document id. We intend to use metadata; it is required.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

If you don't want to use document set, as a workaround, we can create a custom list to store the Product data, then add the lookup column using this product list in document library. And you can group by using this lookup column, like this:

    Best Regards,
