Deploying Excel Template RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I used Visual Studio 2010 to create a Excel 2010 Template. I then made some custom code and created a "Click Once" installer. After installing the template i can open the template file from the installation folder just fine. But i would like to place the new template in the Excel My Templates folder. This way the user can open excel, select the new tab, then My Templates and select the template that was installed.

    How is this done?

    Best regards

    Mads

  • Hi Mads,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

As far as I know that click once can’t change the target directory. So you need create a MSI to handle your issue. What you need to do is include *.xltx file, *.vsto file, *.dll file and *.dll.mainfest file into your msi project. Then build it. You can select specific directory when the installer prompt the install folder window.

I hope it can help you.

    Have a good day,

    Tom
