Accessing Network Shares via WM5.0 Emulator RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing an application in VS.Net 2005 for a WM5.0 device. I need the emulator to access a network share to pick up some files.  Accessing shares from a real device works fine, but not in the emulator. I need the emulator to work for debugging/development purposes as I don't have a WM5.0 device readily available to play with.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi RyanS2

Do you check whether your emulator can connect to the LAN?

If can not connect to LAN, there are two ways, see here

  • I've gone through so many different scenarios with it being connected to the lan and not connected, I've lost track.

Short answer is yes, it was connected to my lan as I could ping the device from anywhere on the lan. At one point I could get on the internet from the device, but no luck with the network shares.

  • Hi RyanS2

Can you tell me how did you get through the network shares?  Can you also provide me some code about your question?
Otherwise, please check whether there is any firewall software installed in your network or not.

  • There doesn't appear to be any firewall issues.

There isn't really any code for this question. I'm trying to explore a network share through the File Explorer on WM5.

    The code would be simple...

    if file.exists("\\server\share\file") then

    'do something here

    end if

Are there better ways to explore network shares through code? I'm open to try something different.
