  • Question

  • Hi,
How can I practice ADF for free without the free trial period account?
I hear there is a visual studio front end to do this for free?

    Thank you

  • Hi arkiboys,

Thank you for your query. The only way you can practice ADF for free is to create a Free Azure Subscription which gives you $200 credit to utilize.

If you referring to any article/blog that says to use visual studio front end to do this for free, could you please share it here?

Please correct me if I am wrong, as per my understanding you might be referring to ways of creating Azure Data Factory and other ADF resources through Visual Studio. No matter what method is used (Visual studio/Powershell/Azure Portal/.NET SDK), the billing on Azure Subscription for Data pipeline is calculated based on:

    • Pipeline orchestration and execution
    • Data flow execution and debugging
    • Number of Data Factory operations such as create pipelines and pipeline monitoring

    Additional info:

    Please refer to below docs:

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have further query.

    Thank you
