make a column invisible RRS feed

  • I want to make a column invisible in new,edit form.

    That's for lookup(link) column which is calculated.

    How to do that?

  • Hi The Great Engine,

    Just follow the below steps to achieve this,

    1) Go to Advanced Setings -> Allow management of content types to Yes

    2) You can now see the Attached Content Types -> Click on the Column which you need to hide, as shown below

    Selecting the hidden button will not show the column on form.

  • below is the updated powershell script...try this

     $web = Get-SPWeb "http://your site url"
     $list = $web.Lists["List Name"]
     $field = $list.Fields["Column Name"]
     $field.ShowInEditForm=$false
     $field.ShowInNewForm=$false
     $field.Update()

     $web = Get-SPWeb "http://your site url"
     $list = $web.Lists["List Name"]
     $field = $list.Fields["Column Name"]
     $field.ShowInEditForm=$false

  • Hi

    The easiest way Create your own new New, Edit form for your list ( using SHP Designer for ex ), make them as deault. Next, edit these form, one by one  - from the ribbon select "Add Remove Column" and remove the un-wanted column.
