Backstage view and read only mode in word 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have template that is modified using custom UI editor for word 2010 and earlier version. In this template for backstage view under file tab we don't show any options and disable everything.  When we launch the same template in 2013 the backstage view is showing options like New, Save AS Export etc even though they are disabled and made empty in 2010 using custom UI editor. So what's the difference between 2010 and 2013 why its behaving differently ? Do I need to modify it again to make it compatible in 2013?

If so how I can do that which editor I have to use it?

Because the IdMso of some controls between Office2010 and Office 2013 are different.

You could download Office 2010 Help Files and Office 2013 Help Files to check the change.

If you want to use the template in Office2013, you should modify it by using the correct IdMso.

However, to use both in Office2010 and 2013, I suggest you just customize the backstage view using the unchanged controls.
