How to store some numbers or string in a secret from decompilers? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I have an application that uses encryption.

But if some "unwanted" programmer wil open it with some decompiler programm he will be able to see my encryption key..

So it will be simple easy to decrypt my files.

I don't want to use obfuscators. Is there some other way to store my key in secret?

May be write unmanaged dll on another language? On what and how to connect my .Net application to it?

    Or some else possibility?

  • Thanks for reply! My customers.

As I understand to "hide" something inside application is very hard or even impossible.

Thats why I have deside to write small function that will change encryption KEY in depend of entered password.

( I'm using DES, may be if to use AES - it will be possible to change KEY without any functions couse they have not encryption KEY - they have PASSWORD )
