Installing VS2008 after VS2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I already have VS2010 installed but I need to install VS2008 because I can't do SSRS reports in 2010, is this going to cause me a lot of grief?  I really don't have the time to rebuild my machine right now.  Thanks.

  • Hi Michael Perrenoud,

    Thank you for your post.

I have VS2005, VS2008 and VS2010 products installed on my machine. They can work side by side.

Frankly speaking, it is recommended to install VS2008 >> VS2010 in order.

However, for your concern, I think that you can directly install VS2008 after you have installed VS2010. If you have any concern after that, please feel free to let me know. I'm willing to help you on that.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi,

I installed VS 2010 on a new Windows 7 machine and now I have to install VS 2008 for a project, but I am getting error in install. Also I am not able to install SQL server 2008 either. When I look into control panel I see .NET Framework 4 but don't see .NET 3.5 installed on system.

Is it a pre-req to NOT have .NET Framework 4 before installing VS 2008 and/or SQL Server 2008? Also is it known issue to get error while installing VS 2008 on Windows 7? what could be the fix for that?

    Thank you very much!
