Microsoft Ribbon for Silverlight? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm a UX designer working on a team that is creating a Silverlight application. I'm using Blend 4 to explore visual themes as part of creating a styleguide. Our tool needs to use an Office-style ribbon - I see and have downloaded the Microsoft Ribbon for WPF, and this is exactly what I want to use. However, it's for WPF, not Silverlight. Does a Silverlight version of this exist?

I know that I could accomplish all this in VS, but I am not a developer and would prefer not to have to learn/write code.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • I believe a few companies offer a ribbon like control, for example:

Some free ones (haven't used them, just typed silverlight ribbon into bing):

A few ribbon controls (and many other controls) are listed here:

  • Yeah, I've seen those, and we have a site license for Telerik. I really like the visual simplicity of the WPF ribbon and was hoping there was a Silverlight version of it - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2bfc3187-74aa-4154-a670-76ef8bc2a0b4&displaylang=en

    Thanks for the response!

  • Eric, make sure to check out Ribbon control that we just added to DotNetBar for Siverlight: http://www.devcomponents.com/dotnetbarsilverlight/

Here is live-demo and you can also get fully featured trial version. We have MVVM support out of the box and samples that show how to do it. You can also re-style Ribbon any way you want.

    Hope this helps.
