Bing Maps 8 data items on map only in Firefox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Sorry for all the questions; just rolling out large upgrade to Bing Maps v8.

    Have noticed that in Firefox, with web control, the additional information markers for places (business locations, train/bus stops) is showing.

    However, these do not show in Edge/Chrome, and there is no differences in our codebase / map configuration.

    I quite like the extra info on the map as our users wish to be able to find places visually as well as by textual search, so how can I get that data to be shown within Chrome/Edge?

  • Edge and Chrome look pretty much the same. The differences are likely one of three things;

    • the side panel is bigger in chrome, thus some roads are covered in chrome.
    • the browser windows may be difference sizes, this would mean that there is less pixel area to display the map.
    • the page zoom of the browsers is different. (not the map zoom). Note that all of your UI around the map appears bigger in chrome.

    As for Firefox, the additional information you are seeing is a known issue the team is working on. This information is the business information meant for display on the Bing Maps website and not in the API. It may already be fixed in the experimental branch.

  • The additional information that was showing up on the map when in Firefox has now been removed from the experimental branch. The main release branch will be updated near the end of July.
