I'm following this tutorial - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn154770.aspx - to create a drill through report. First step is to create a new website using the "ASP.NET Reports Web Site" template. However, I do not see this template under C#. I'm using VS 2017 and sql server 2016. Any advice? Can I use another template? Can I download the template from somewhere? Thanks! - Rich

    Hi Rich,

    ASP.NET Reports Web Site

Use this project template to create an ASP.NET website that contains a report (.rdlc file), a default ASP.NET Web Forms page (.aspx file) that contains a ReportViewer control, and a Web.config file.

For now I recommend using ASP.NET Reports Web Site for VS2015 if you need to create.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Chris,

That is the template that I want to use. However, my question is how to get the template? It is not available in VS 2017. Are you saying that I need to install and use VS 2015 to get Reports Web Site project template? Or can I download the template from somewhere on the web in order to use with VS2017? And if so, any links?

    Hi RIch,

I'm guessing by now you found an answer but since I had the same question and didn't see a link, I'm sharing it here for anyone else who has the same question. I found that for VS 2017, there is a downloadable extension which adds the ASP.NET Reports Web Site for both C# and VB. To install the extension, VS must be closed first. Here is the link to the download page:
