App end-of-life RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm in a situation where my app is no longer allowed to use a certain resource it depends on. Can I make an update (and have it certified) that will essentially just show a message that the app is no longer functional, and then exit? There is no other way to "force uninstall" a discontinued app, is there?

    Thanks in advance,

  • This is better asked on the publishing forums.  However, an update that says "This no longer works" and disables all functionality will most likely be deleted anyway.

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
