How to upload files to remote server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm very new to the programming scene and have what I think are some very basic questions. I would be most appreciative if someone could point me in the proper direction. I may not even be describing things correctly or using the proper terminology so please be patient with me as I learn the correct things to ask...I apologize in advance for my ignorance but that is why I am here.

Initially I inherited Dreamweaver CS6 and a sample site that was already set up on a remote server. So I played around in dreamweaver and was able to load my sample files into a website which I'll call www.mysamplesite.com. I had no trouble setting this up to view new files. But now I'm exploring Visual studio 2013 and I have no clue how to get new pages I created in studio to load into www.mysamplesite.com. I have no trouble viewing my new pages on my local machine but I am pretty clueless as to how to get it to the remote server. I am unsure if I use the Web deploy or not. If so, I haven't been successful in getting it to work. Can someone please guide me to what I should be learning on how to get my files to my website.

Again I apologize for my lack of knowledge, but I'm stuck.

  • Hello,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System and Visual Studio Editor.

Because you want to deploy the asp.net website to remote server, I suggest that you can consult your issue on ASP.NET forums’ sub-forum: Configuration and Deployment for better solution and support.

    Best regards,
