Azurestack Admin/Tenant Portals are not opening after Installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Earlier, I used Azurestack TP3 but after the new Azure stack release, I tried to reinstall ASDK binaries. The installation seems to went fine. However, the azurestack adminportal/tenant portal are not opening after the installation.

Error: Sign-in failed Sorry, we had some trouble signing you in, Click 'Try again' to try again. Try again

The tenant portal also ends with the same error.

Below the powershell output in the terminal which confirms that installation is successful. I am unable to login to the portal immediately after the installation.

I suspected that earlier TP3 might cause any trouble. So cleared the RAID and reinstalled from scratch. However, there is no luck.

Any pointers to resolve this issue is very much appreciated.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Avinash.

  • Thank you very much Gary. I started redeploying the stack with Azure Cloud deployment mode by cleaning up the existing cloudbuilder.vhdx
I will let you know once the installation completes.

There are few information that was gathered in the failing ADFS server before I started the re-deploy.

    1. PST timezone is used for the deployment. However, the time shown post deployment is almost 7 hours ahead of post deployment. Port 123 is blocked, so I am using local NTP which refers to exact PST time but during the deployment process, time seems to be changed.

During this redeploy in Azure Cloud model also, the time is changed after the second reboot. I had to follow the steps mentioned in the below link to set the time back to PST.

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/c1481b71-57bb-4b6a-9e38-b602219d744b/asdk-install-error?forum=AzureStack

I am not quite sure about the reason for this issue.

    2. In the Powershell execution output of the existing ADFS deployment, contains the belows lines in the output terminal.

    	VERBOSE: [NC:Validate] GET
    	https://nc.azurestack.local/Networking/v1/diagnostics/slbStateResults/897b93fd-a51a-44e8-a989-fa54

There are almost around 2000 lines where the server is waiting. I am not quite sure if these logs are expected.

May be, I can update once the installation (AAD mode) is completed.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Avinash.

  • Few more information:

I tested in different browsers and the issue is still the same. Unable to open the admin/tenant portal after the deployment. When the URL "https://adminportal.local.azurestack.external" is opened, the browser pops for credentials. I gave the credentials and clicked on "SignIn" button. The browser loaded for couple of minutes and ends with blue screen error stating:

    Hmmm...
Sorry, the portal took a long time to load. Click 'Try again' to reload.
    Looks like something went wrong
    Try again

I redeployed ASDK on this same server for more than 2 times but the stuck with the same issue. Though, AzureStack ADFS deployment on another server is working fine.
When the page is loading after clicking on sign, the browser console tab has few error messages:

  • When download the azurestack tools and configure powershell, there is no subscription available for this ADFS deployment. This can be one of the reasons, why the portals are not being working.

    PS C:\AzureStack-Tools-master> Login-AzureRmAccount -EnvironmentName "AzureStackAdmin" -TenantId $TenantID

    Environment : AzureStackAdmin
    Account : azurestackadmin@azurestack.local
    TenantId : ba93918b-f140-4e09-af35-d8c151e84d07
    SubscriptionId :
    CurrentStorageAccount :

If this is the reason, is their any additional step required in ADFS to get this subscription.
While I was trying this on another setup, 'default subscription' is available automatically after Azurestack ADFS deployment.

    Any inputs/pointers are highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Avinash.

  • Hello,

You are able to login to the AzureStackAdmin environment visa PowerShell, try restarting AzS-WAS01 in Hyper-V manager, waiting about 5 minutes, and then see if you can login.

Let us know how it goes,

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your time and interest in Azure Stack.

If you continue experience any issues with ASDK release, feel free to contact us.

  • Hello Gary,

Thanks. Azure Cloud model of Azure stack is deployed successfully by changing the time (mentioned work around in previous response). This can be reason for ADFS portal issue as well.
In future, if similar issue is encountered again, I will try restarting AzS-WAS01 and check again.

    Thanks,
    Avinash.
