.hckx package content Information. What does it contains? How to interpret Test logs and List of Test cases? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have run the HCK tests for a particular HID device and after creating the package. I got the .hckx file at the end.I haven’t signed , neither used the certificate, just chosen the first the option(“do not sign”) for creating a package.

I wanted to know what does this package consists of.I have extracted the .hckx with an extractor(7zip or winrar) and i can see three different folders in there :

     - Data

         ----and so on ..

->services>metadata>core-properties > *.psmdcp file.(What is this .psmdcp file??)

How can I interpret these logs and folders and different files contained inside it.I wanted to know the list of test cases I ran and logs corresponding to it.Where to look for this info in above folders. Also Do I have the info of how many times the Test cases have been run if it got failed for the first time.

    Kindly comment on this!

  • Hi,

.hckx files can be opened on any PC with HCK Studio and HCK Manager (e.g job, results explorer), those tools will provide you information.

I guess the .hckx contains all the logfiles related to the ran tests but they're hardly exploitable and understandable without Windows tools.

  • HI,

I could browse the Job Explorer/Job Monitor and Result Explorer , but I can find only Job Monitor Windows Useful as it shows me all the tests and their status(run, not run and failed) and on right clicking it I can see the

        - View Errors

        - View Result Report

        - View Job Report

With View Job Report I can see what is the intent of the test case. But I have found how to open the .hckx file. Here is the snap of what I found on msdn :

    View an .hckx package

HCK Studio supports viewing existing .hckx pages. For example, if you want to troubleshoot a test offline, you can open an existing .hckx package using the Connect option. In this mode, you can view all details of the project, including pass/fail results and log files.

    1. From HCK Studio, click Connect.
    2. Select Package option, and then click Browse to open an existing .hckx package.

  • Yup, that's what I meant by

".hckx files can be opened on any PC with HCK Studio and HCK Manager (e.g job, results explorer), those tools will provide you information."

I should have been more explicit :)

  • HI,

Once done the package creation, after few days the package corresponding project was deleted then Can you change the tests status(I mean to say re-run the failed tests)..?

  • Hi,

If you create a package, you can re-open it in HCK Studio (see Rblooper previous post for the method). From here, I think you can re-run tests if Test Clients identity haven't changed.
