Updates to files RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using my current software for many years. In the last month I have hit a problem with using the update command.

    I am trying to update a value that has a value of say 16.56  The operative word is the "." as the computer puts in its place a ","

    which when you run a update sql is rejects it as invalid characters. This is very frustrating as it is in a stock control system.

  • Hi,

    Would it have anything to do with your computer's Regional Settings? Try setting it to use a decimal separator and see if it makes any difference.

    Hope it helps...

    Update Query? VBA Function?  Can you show us your SQL Statement/VBA Code.

  • Hi eddiesherrard,

    If you run this update query in Access 2013, I would suggest you add double quotes for 16,56.

    Here is a simple code:
    UPDATE T1 SET
    RegionNum="1,25"; // RegionNum is a double field

    Best Regards,

    Edward
